The text of the Bishop’s Plan is now coming together and meetings will take place in the autumn. These meetings are open to all in each Deanery and the Plan will be presented by the Bishop, assisted by a team of people. The Worthing Deanery meeting will be held at Chatsmore Catholic High School on Thursday 8th November at 7pm.
Please try and come! In his capacity as Dean, Fr Terry met with the Bishop last week, and it is clear that a good deal of prayer and careful thought have gone into preparing this first draft.
Come to ‘The Way’ (St Mary of the Angels Charismatic Prayer Group) for worship, praise, intercession and scripture on Mondays at 7:30pm (excluding Bank Holidays and Monday’s in August) in the Lady Chapel at St Mary of the Angels Church.
St Peter on the day of Pentecost said using the words of the prophet Joel;
“It will come to pass in the last days,’ God says, ‘that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy. And I will work wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below: blood, fire, and a cloud of smoke. The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord, and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.” Acts 2:17-21
THIS WEDNESDAY is the Solemnity of the Assumption, a Holy Day of Obligation. To help you fulfill the obligation, there are three Masses that day: 7.00am (Holy Souls chapel), 10.00am (with organ), 7.30pm.
Once again, we continue to be in great need, particularly from younger adults. If you could possibly just give 1 – 2 hours of your time every 4 weeks, you would help keep our church in good shape. Currently we have so few doing so much; many of us well into senior years! Please call Teresa Turner at 01903 211396. We are immensely grateful to the team who so faithfully and so diligently do what they can at the moment – but they do need help!
- Be a Catholic: When you kneel before an altar, do it in such a way that others may be able to recognize that you know before whom you kneel.
- Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.
St Maximilian Kolbe (1894- 1941), Martyr of Charity, Martyr of Auschwitz
Mary, give me your heart: so beautiful, so pure, so immaculate; your heart so full of love and humility that I may be able to receive Jesus in the Bread of Life and love him as you love him and serve him in the distressing guise of the poor.
(St Teresa of Calcutta, 1910 – 1997)
